Week 11's COVID-19 Report

Week 11:

This is the 11th Week that I am providing my take on COVID-19 in Texas. Rather than go county by county (254 times), I have consolidated Texas results into 5 regions: Hill Country (i.e. Central Texas), Gulf Coast, North Texas, Border, and Panhandle. On the time scale, I have begun to define 4 periods: last 3 weeks of Lockdown, End of Lockdown, Stage 1 Recovery, and Stage 2 Recovery. Compared to other parts of the state, the Gulf Coast is doing well.

Due to Memorial Day, this past week fell short saw a reduction in testing across the state along with an increase in Positivity. In round numbers, this value ranged from 10 in Central Texas to 5 in the Gulf Coast. Walker County Prisons contributed 981 new cases to the Central Texas Positivity Calculation. Texas's overall positivity was 7.4, a good amount higher than the previous weeks where it had been 4.9 (Week10) and 5.9 (Week 9).
